As Luck would have it

So, on my way back from San Diego last week my flight was delayed by two hours. What started out as a broken toilet seat and a 15 minute delay turned into a brand new commode installation two hours later. The ground staff, at every 15 minute interval, would politely announce the status of the broken toilet over the intercom system.

He's in there ladies and gentlemen, he's fixing it for you.

Well, turns out that the commode has to be removed, the new departure time is 7:45.

Three cheers we have you a new commode.

All in the same tone as if she was asking us to fasten those seat belts. I mean, lady, you do realize that you're talking about a contraption that accumulates shit, over a blaring microphone.

You can imagine my frustration. I mean seriously, it's 7:45 pm on a Sunday evening. I'm supposed to be at home, tucked into my couch with my bonnet and mittens on. Well not really, but you get the drift. I am not supposed to be at an airport 2000 miles away waiting on a broken commode.

Guess which chosen person had the good fortune to be at the receiving end of my vent? And he did it with his usual panache - calm and collected, even as I hurled a few angry text messages.

Fast forward 3 days.

SK's flight back to Atlanta from a client site was delayed by 5 hours.

I received a slew of text messages.

Oh why does this only happen to me all the time?

Oh the world is coming to an end, my flight is delayed.

Oh I have the worst luck ever.

Tit for tat? I suppose.

Fake Drama Queen you.

At least you didn't have annoying-toilet-lady to contend with.

Hahaha! Neither of you can say you don't understand the plight of the other one now. Still, delayed flights are the pits!

I believe I met you at one of the crazy parties at BlogHer. I'm only now getting through all of the stuff I brought home. Glad I stopped in here. Love your writing style! :)
