Here’s my 2 minute spiel on BlogHer - a powerful, wonderful publishing network for/by/of women with a tagline “life well said”. If you ever stop by you’ll find content under every possible category – from parenting to public issues to how-to-deal-with-your-fetish-for-cats (EEEK I know, who are those people?) BlogHer organizes a conference once year to teach, share and network and that’s where I was this weekend.
The show kicked off on Thursday evening and wrapped up on Saturday night. It was humbling to meet so many influential bloggers, many of whom use blogging as a tool not just to express themselves but to find support for a common cause – be it surviving breast cancer or raising a child with special needs. I met a few from Huffington Post and felt mostly like Alice in Wonderland, complete with rabbit hole and looking glass.
Of the 20 or so sessions one was particularly entertaining (in a OMG there-are-other-women-who-have-the-same-issue-as-me way) and was titled ‘Till Blog Do Us Part’ – basically how to deal with a spouse who rolls his eyes at your blog and thinks it to be a ‘little pastime’ at best! There was also good information for "personal" bloggers like me on how to discuss family and friends without being IN YOUR FACE. Using initials is apparently so YESTERDAY.
The best part - taking time off, taking a nap on a Friday afternoon, just because. Unplugging. For real- because my phone died. Men needing "me time" is so overrated. Women need it too. And apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so.
